Gosavi Samadhi is a precinct consisting of several samadhis built in the memory of the Gosavis of Mendha, who were followers of Adi Shankaracharya. It has in total 7 samadhis that belong to Chaturbathgiri Maharaj, Chattargiri Maharaj, Aloni Baba, Surajgiri Maharaj and a few others respectively. They are built in Hemadpanti style of architecture and are said to be around 800 years old. Out of the 7, 2 samadhis are built in the shape of temples while the remaining are chattris. Several of the structures houses Shivlings or Vishnu idols since the Gosavis were worshippers of Shiva and Vishnu.

The complex is currently being looked after by the decendents of Giri Gosavis. They belong to the Nath sect (Giri or Gosavi Sect). They were originally Sanyasis who survived by talking alms.

SMA had been appointed as the Conservation Architects for the conservation and restoration of the monument. Our scope of work includes the detailed documentation, condition mapping, estimation, conservation consultancy and supervision of work execution.
