KDR Government Polytechnic College was formerly the royal palace of the Wanaparthy kingdom. It was originally known as “Ram Sagar Bungalow”, the “Palace of Wanaparthy” & “Mustafa Mahal” in respect to a Muslim Saint.
The Palace covers around 640 square miles in area. This structure was built in 1885 during the regency of Raja Rameshwar Rao, who was a vassal of the Nizam of Hyderabad.
Raja Rameshwar Rao generously donated the palace and 18 acres of land along with other buildings for his futuristic visions for education. Since then, the old Wanaparthy Place has been known as the Sri Krishna Devaraya Government Polytechnic College.
SMA has been appointed as the Consultant Conservation Architects for the conservation and restoration of the college. The scope of work included detailed documentation, condition mapping and assessment, preparation of detailed project report, estimation and supervision of work execution.
